Semaglutide
Semaglutide is a glucagon-like peptide receptor agonists (GLP-1) that prompts the body to produce more insulin after eating. This medication assists with lowering blood sugar to allow fat burning. It also slows gastric emptying to aid in appetite control and keep you feeling fuller longer.
-
More than half of Americans are overweight or obese according to CDC. Being overweight or obese is a serious health risk associated with health conditions such as stroke, heart disease and diabetes. Losing weight lowers these risks.
-
Once a week injection preferably on the same day each week. This medication is intended to be titrated in increasing units every 4 weeks. It is not recommended to abruptly stop taking this medication unless severe side effects occur.
-
Our semaglutide contains the same active ingredients as Wegovy and Ozempic. It is the generic version of those brand name medications. At Top Care, we differ from most in that we also administer B12 separately to increase effectiveness by preventing nausea, increasing energy levels and improve sleep regulation.

Medicare does not cover obesity medications and most private insurance plans do not either. Retail pharmacies are charging between $1000 and $1300 monthly out of pocket. Luckily, we work with several compounding pharmacies to make the medication affordable, not insurance dependent and readily available. Our semaglutide ranges from $75 - $150 weekly depending on the dose.
-
Laboratory testing prior to starting and every 3 months while on this medicine include: CBC, BMP, Thyroid Panel and Hemoglobin AIC. We can complete this at our office for a fee.
